The party found themselves engaged in battle with a trap – a colossal Arcane Golem.

Garrius and Egos advanced quickly whilst Sylas started to cast bolts of energy. After the front-line warriors drew their swords, they discovered the construct was resistant to Physical Damage. They tried to shove it backwards into one of Augustus’s traps, but its sheer bulk made this plan impossible.

Meanwhile, Addie and Calarel began to inspect the room and doors for clues.

The doors were sealed shut with electric charge. Calarel inspected various statuettes and the fireplace nearby, whilst Addie explored the countless books.

Globs of glowing arcane matter shot out of the construct, splashing onto the tiles as the battle intensified. Calarel inflicted the construct with a Grievous Effect that granted her more time in battle.

Meanwhile, Addie found a mysterious clue on a scrap of paper. It showed four violet gems arranged in a peculiar pattern.

The party fought on, almost bringing the creature down. But when its casing was chipped away and its energy was weak, it began to regenerate huge amounts of health and deal more damage.

Addie reacted by jumping up onto a nearby sofa and began to channel her healing powers. She was slightly out of range of Garrius, so she leapt forward – but tripped into an arcane trap. A violent burst of energy left her unconscious.

Garrius looked on as his allies fell. “Addie! No! This cannot be allowed to happen”, he growled. While the construct’s attention was diverted, he explored his backpack and considered his options.

Without knowing whether it would hurt or help, he gambled and triggered a strange potion designed to access random magical energies. And miraculously, threads of holy light began to resurrect and heal the entire party, pushing them on to victory!

All that remained was to investigate the strange clue.

Suddenly, everything turned black…
