Executions
Rella, a member of the Elf Queen’s Guard, had battled her foe for hours. A bead of sweat ran down her brow. At first, they were at an impasse, but Rella began to gain the upper hand, albeit at the cost of wounds all over her body and nicks in her golden armor. Suddenly her foe collapsed. Rella hovered over the Bwork Magus, wary of deceit. Then she raised her blade…
Executions Mechanics
When a Creature’s HP is reduced to 0, other Creatures may attempt to Execute the Creature. Normal Death rules still apply (the Execution is not an instant kill, merely a Bonus action for flair when a Creature is knocked Unconscious).
The Attacker performs a special Free Action, gaining Bonuses if successful. To perform an Execution, the Attacker that reduced the Creature’s HP to 0 must declare their attempt when prompted and select an Execution from the list below. They then roll 1d20. DC starts at the number given below and the Target Creature’s Death Saves Bonus is added to the DC.
An Execution can only be attempted once for each time a Creature’s HP is reduced to 0.
For example, Calarel Carter falls Unconscious after a deadly strike. Her assailant, a Behir, attempts to Decapitate her with its claws. The base DC is 14, increased by 2 for Calarel’s Death Saves Bonus. The Behir needs to roll 16 or higher on a 1d20 roll to Decapitate Calarel.
Additional Executions may be learned or unlocked within the World.
Exsanguinate (DC 6)
The Creature is sliced apart so badly the surrounding area is sprayed with blood spatters. This Execution has no affect on Creatures that lack blood.
Bonus: The Creature Heals its Attacker for 2.5% of the Creature’s Maximum HP.
Decapitation (DC 14)
The Creature is beheaded.
Bonus: The Creature’s head may be collected and kept as a trophy, although it will be restored if the Creature is Stabilised or Resurrected. Some heads may have useful purposes.
